Darkroom to Digital: Embracing Photoshop as a Photographer | Alpha Omega Media
February 21, 2023Oh yeah that’s photoshoped!
In our everyday lives
we’re surrounded by photo images. Whether we’re watching TV, scrolling
social media or just driving down the road, photo images are everywhere.
I often find myself staring at a billboard and thinking “oh yeah,
that’s photoshoped”. And to be honest, I’m thinking that with some
heavy judgment attached. A little background here. I started my
photography journey developing my own film negatives
and prints. With chemicals. In a darkroom. It was awesome and made you
very thoughtful of what you were taking photos of and connected you to
the finished product in a tangible way. In my opinion this more hands on
method of creating photo is more true. Disclaimer; I am bias. So it
took me some time getting use to the ins and outs of digital photography
and post production. Now on some blogs it may go without saying that
photoshop is an essential tool for photographers today but I’ll say it.
Photoshop is an essential tool for creating photo images today! Over the
past couple of years I have dedicated myself the task of mastering
photoshop. A few online classes and many youtube tutorials later(Shout
out to PiXimperfect & Nemanja Sekulic),
I’ve been able to add new skills to my photographic tool kit and have
been having major fun while learning. Experimenting with photoshop is
helping me explore my creativity and try new things. Here’s an attempt
at art. Hope you enjoy.
Oh yeah, it’s photoshoped.
Peace,
